(Pitchfork). Muhly’s Viola Concerto (2014), written for and dedicated to Nadia, is a spellbinding work whose roots began in their student days at The Juilliard. The Manhattan connection continues through another alumnus, the venerated Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara (1928-2016), who wrote the mesmerising Manhattan Trilogy for the school’s centenary.
